King Henry’s Walk Garden
11c King Henry's Walk
Running on Saturday mornings, 10am – 12pm on 19th May, 16th June and 21st July, this is the second of a series of linked sessions, lead by garden member Caroline Banks. All sessions also work as ‘stand alone’ events so you may join as many or as few as you like.
The aim for the group is to create a non-judgemental and “safe” environment conducive to the enjoyment of drawing and painting and to encourage experimentation as well as creative play. The purpose is not only for participants to gain skills but also to increase confidence and enjoyment of the process.Caroline is very keen to help quieten the voice of censorship that many people hear when trying something new or even taking up drawing again.
It is proposed that there will be a different theme and medium for each session. These may include:-’
- Light and shade in the woodland (charcoal)
- Colour mixing with the garden in bloom (paint)
- Structural line drawing (pencils/crayons)
- Observation of individual plants (variety of materials)
Each session would begin with 2-3 warm-up exercises in order to loosen people up and to encourage the process.
Some people might just want to use the time and space to do their own thing but everyone will be encouraged to play and experiment.
The maximum number of people would be 10 in any session.
Cost per session £10. Concession £7. Materials will be available, but you may wish to bring your own as well. Wear old clothes or bring an apron or similar.
